WHAT'S
HAPPENIN'!
WINTER
2006 UPDATE
01/12/06
WE'RE WRAPPIN' IT UP & PUTTIN' A BOW ON IT... SAYING GOODBYE TO
'05...
Hola,
kids – long time, no see! It’s been quite a year here
at BLAM! central. Probably the biggest news, which some of you know
(and the rest of you are about to learn), is that GWoM artist Lucius
Romero has left the company. Creative differences simply couldn’t
be overcome and we wish him luck on his future path.
But, every cloud has its silver lining, right? You bet! The boys in
the bullpen have decided to open up the field, and give you all a
shot at the prize. ‘And the prize is?’ you ask. We’re
looking for a new artist for Richard Hatch’s The Great War of
Magellan – and it could be you! Actually, we’re looking
for a few artists, so click here
for all the details on what we’re searching for and how to submit.
So, on to the reflecting (don’t worry, I’ll keep it short
this time). This past year was definitely a learning experience for
us all. The comic book industry is as tough as any other creative
industry (tougher, maybe), but we’ve stuck to it and made 2005
a good year. We hit a lot of conventions, making a few good friends
and meeting a lot of fans along the way, and finding out just what
a great community there is out there. To all of you who have supported
us throughout the year, and continue to do so in 2006, thank you!
Have a happy New Year, we’ll see you next month!

THE NEW BLAM! PLAN
Yo,
Piglets, lots to update you on, not a lot of time to do it in as we’re
getting ready for SAN DIEGO!!!!
Yup, top of the list this time out is that blazin’ BLAM! co-founder
Andrew E. C. Gaska, along with our illustrious senior illustrator
Lucius Romero, will be traversing this great land of ours to converge
on this year’s San Diego Comic Con with Great War of Magellan
creator Richard Hatch. The boys will be roaming around the convention
center, attending Richard’s panels for Q & A’s and
hanging out with him as he signs copies of the Official GWoM Comics
Magazine (if you’re nice, they’ll sign for you, too!).
While we won’t have an official presence this year – going
in commando style to scope the place out – we shouldn’t
be too hard to locate as when we’re not with Richard you may
find us at our publishing partner Vanguard Productions’ own
table helping out or grabbing a quick breather from all the excitement.
In other news, the gang at BLAM! have done some hard thinking lately,
about who we are and how we want to entertain you, and a few decisions
have been reached. Our biggest change comes in how we are packaging
our stories in the future. With the rise of graphic novels and collections,
we feel most, if not all of our forthcoming series would benefit by
foregoing the traditional monthly format and putting out a series
of original graphic novels instead. This will allow us greater freedom
in creating stories, and give you the opportunity to enjoy them in
one shot, without the needless agony of waiting for the finish (which
I, personally, hate, dear readers).
This news, however does not affect our plans for the special one shot
GWoM Preview book entitled Legacy. The 32 page black and white special
will still come out (some of you who went to Wizard World in Philadelphia
got a sneak preview through our ashcan), the only thing that has changed
is the when. We’ve pushed the book back to the fall, but this
is a good thing as it will be even more special with the addition
of a fabulous new artist (more on him later), and some other special
treats. Something else we’re offering to make it worth your
wait, we will be posting the first four chapters of the Legacy story
in full color online in a weekly serial for fans to preview beginning
in September, be on the lookout for more news on that and other web
comics later this summer.
And for those loyal fans who already ordered the Preview book in our
special promotion with our sister company Comicslop, you can wait
for the new release date to come around and you will get the first
copies hot off the press, or you can email thereadingtrough@comicslop.com
and we’ll be happy to refund your money if you just can’t
wait that long (though we’ll be sorry to see you do so).
We mentioned Vanguard Productions above, for those of you who don’t
know, they are our publishing partner, providing us with distribution
through Diamond comics and other venues, and helping get the word
out about our ever-growing comic book company. They put out a lot
of cool art books and collections by some of the greatest artists
of the silver and golden ages. Our 3p2c
Studio provides Production Assistance for these collections, and
we here at BLAM! are proud to be a member of their family. Please
check them out at www.creativemix.com/vanguard/.
Okay, just a few more announcements, and then I’m off to help
Andrew get packed for the trip (he can’t do anything without
me, I tell ya):
First,
we've been playing the name change game yet again. When we realized
the scope of the projects that we have planned for the next few years,
we came to the conclusion that the Press in BLAM! Press was just too
stifling. With that in mind, we are officially moving ahead as BLAM!
Ventures. What could these ventures be, you might ask? Well,... we'll
have an official press release explaining it all this Fall when we
premiere the online GWoM comic.
Second, we’re expanding our little family by one. While we’ll
have a formal announcement in the weeks to come, we’re excited
to tell you a new talent, Rami Efal, has agreed to join BLAM! Ventures
on a couple of upcoming projects, including Richard Hatch’s
Great War of Magellan! Keep your eyes on your inbox for further details
as they come.
Next, along with the GWoM web comic we told you about earlier, comes
changes to our site this fall. New features, more content, and all
the coolness you have come to expect from the folks here at BLAM!
By
the end of year, you will also see Comicslop upgraded to be a bigger
part of the BLAM! family. (Hmmm... could this be one of the aforementioned
ventures?) Look to see it evolve into blamentertainment.com this holiday
season, an "Amazon-style" online shopping experience catering to sci-fi,
comic book, and collectible fans.
And finally, the last thing before I let you patient piglets go for
now, we are currently in negotiations with an independent film studio
to do several projects for a horror movie they are producing, including
an original graphic novel and a movie magazine in the same vein as
our own Official GWoM Comics Magazine!
Exciting things are happenin’, kids! And your humble Information
Director will be online to keep you up to speed. Until then, I am…
Your Pig on the Beat,

THE HAMMER COMES DOWN AS THE BOYS COME HOME! ALSO, SLOP IS SELLING:
GWoM MERCHANDISE ON SALE NOW!
Hola,
piggies. Time for the news. First up, MegaCon! What a wild weekend
the boys had last month, hitting mostly sunny Florida (it rained during
the day on Sunday, so they told me, but they were inside the convention
center anyway), and promoting the release of The Official Great
War of Magellan Comics Magazine. It was a smash, everyone loved
the mag and was mightily impressed by what we had to offer (we were
a little impressed, too). For more insight into the trip, you can
read our editorial director’s account of all things MegaCon
at our brand spankin’ new blog The
Hammer.
For those who couldn’t make the trip to Orlando that last weekend
in February to pick up The Official Comics Magazine, you
are in luck. We now have copies of the magazine and the poster we
sold at the con available at our sister company, www.comicSLOP.com.
And while you’re there, sign up for the mailing list to receive
special discounts and other premiums available only to those who hop
on board before the Summer 2005 launch. Comicslop is currently under
development to become your premier online comics and collectable shopping
experience, with online account, subscription, preorders, and unparalleled
customer service. Until the Slop goes 100% live we are offering our
BLAM! merchandise for sale via PAYPAL. Rest assured, this Summer you
will be able to use your favorite credit card within our own secure
shopping cart system instead, but until then, head on over to paypal.com,
set up a safe and secure account, and go buy from comicslop!
Back to the subject of conventions: a quick con update! We’re
finalizing plans for two conventions at the end of this spring, MARCON
in Ohio, and Wizard
World Philadelphia in… well, Philadelphia. Follow the links
to learn about these exciting destinations, and stay tuned for a more
official announcement in the coming weeks.
Before I forget, things are changing up a little for the BLAM! crew,
as they modify their moniker from BLAM! Comics to BLAM! Press. Check
out the press release
here for all the details!
And for those who are joining us relatively new in the game (mainly
those who have come to this news page through blamcomics.com), remember
that we are the only site hosting the 4 minute version of Richard
Hatch’s Great War of Magellan trailer. Check it out at 3p2c.com.
When you get there, go to Bottled Lightning section, scroll down to
Half Past 4 Theatre, and check it out the trailer that’s covered
in depth in BLAM! Press’ Official Great War of Magellan
Comics Magazine.
Finally, while The Official Comics Magazine is all about
GWoM, it is actually a product of our Rogue
Review imprint. If you don’t know about the Review, head
over to the new
site and learn more.
Porkingly yours,

Tiny Fred

- NO MONKEY BUSINESS – JUST BLAM! BUSINESS:
THE FIRST UPDATE OF 2005!
Yo, piggies, Tiny Fred here to give you a quick update about a long
newsletter, and a few changes up and about the site.
First up, The List launches. Some of you got this bit of
news a little early (the ones kind enough to sign up for our newsletters),
but now the rest of you stragglers get in the know as we release to
you of first ever BLAM! Comics/3p2c.com newsletter.
Next, site updates. We’ve spruced up the GWoM section of the
site, adding some info on future plans and such, along with some fresh
art, so check it out.
The Comicslop.com
preview pages are up! Check out what your future online comic and
toy retail experience will be like this Summer, and order advance
copies of The Official Great War of Magellan Comics Magazine
this March, too!
And finally, blog blog bloggity blooooog! Yup, we finally broke down
and have joined the bloggin’ masses, those Bloggers!
Now you’ll get daily (well, maybe weekly) updates on what the
gang is doing, sometimes monotonous, sometime hilarious. Sometimes
(hell, most times) it’ll be Editorial Director Christian ranting,
other times Creative Director Andrew E. C. Gaska may find his way
onto the blog, and I might even join the fray if the mood strikes
me (but I’ve still got control of this forum, so why would I
ever want to leave?). So, be sure to take a peek, as the boys promise
to bring you blow by blows on their MegaCon stint this upcoming weekend
(go visit them!). Click here
to check it out!

- PRE-HOLIDAY UPDATE: MEGACON 2005, BLAMCOMICS.COM, COMICSLOP, EXCITING
NEW DIRECTIONS AND A NEW VOICE FOR THE FUTURE.
Hello, my little Piggies, and welcome to another exciting update!
Lots of news to tell you, so let's start with... who the heck am I?
I am the handsome porcine figure you see up at the top corner of this
page, and my name is Tiny Fred. I'm one of the many little piglets
you'll see decorating the virtual pages of this here site; I also
happen to be the funkiest. I'm the dude who updates you on what's
happenin' here at the collective, 'cause I got the inside trough.
Speaking of trough, I bet you're hungry for the real update, so here
ya go:
The
big news, and I mean BIG, is the announcement that 3p2c.com/BLAM!
Comics have become Co-Sponsors of the 2005 Megacon (being held February
25-27 at Orange County Convention Center in sunny Orlando, FL. - www.megaconvention.com).
What does this mean? For one, you'll have to duck all the BLAM! bullet
logos we'll have flying all over the place (like ads in Wizard); two,
should you attend the con (and you now know how important that is,
since we'll be there), the cool goodie bags you get will have some
keen promo stuff from us; and three, well, our presence at the con
itself, of course. We got ourselves an awesome booth in a prime spot,
and we look forward to meeting all of you there.
Why
are we sponsoring this con? Duh, our upcoming collaboration with Richard
Hatch -- The Great War of Magellan Comic Book -- is going to make
its debut there with a One Shot Convention Special, that's why. For
more on the GWoM comic, head on over to the Great War of Magellan
section of our main menu.
The
next big thing we've got going, to help celebrate and promote our
participation in Megacon this February, we're puttin' up a whole new
site! That's right, piglets, you can now head over to www.blamcomics.com
and get excited about what's coming up in the world of BLAM! Previews
of all our major projects for the next two years are locked and loaded
-- click away!
As
if all that weren't enough to get you squealing with joy, the Collective
is proud to announce our foray into the world of online comic retailing
with Comic Slop. This has got to be my favorite new thingie the boys
have got going, one stop comic, toy, anime, rpg, graphic novel, statue
(and more!) shopping. In addition, Comic Slop co-owner Jeremy will
be making the rounds at every con BLAM! attends (and then some), beginning
with Megacon in 2005. Stay tuned for more news on the site launch,
subscription info and other cool happenings.
There
you have it, all the news from the inside trough. But there's more
coming, always more coming, including an update on the www.3p2c.com
megasite (re-imagined for an even better online experience) and a
little series of unauthorized guides coming your way. Until then...
Keep
your snout to the ground,

Tiny
Fred
P.S.
By the way, Shark beat Crocodile, looks like we'll have to get all
political on your ass again some time soon!
11/01
- SHARK vs. CROCODILE, BUSH vs. KERRY: WHO WILL WIN!?!?!
Does the thought of another four years of Bush excite or scare you?
Yeah, us too. It’s with this notion in mind that we at 3p2c/Rogue
Review present the political works of Emily C. Schmidt, Andrew E.
C. Gaska, and other up and coming creators, both pros and students,
for the 2004 election year. Click the flag image below to go to our
Party Poopin’ Election Section, and see what we have to say
on this and more as we drop a load of politically inspired revelations
and ravings on your senses!
And remember to vote on November 2nd, 2004, both at 3p2c.com AND at
your officially designated polling location as well (voting here merely
makes you cool, but it doesn’t really count in the end, voting
for real makes you fantabulous and gives you the ability to help shape
the nation)!

– 3P2C EXCLUSIVE: FIRST LOOK AT THE NEWEST GWoM TRAILER!
Sometimes destiny chooses you, but sometimes, it chooses us! Thanks
to BLAM! Comics association with Richard Hatch and MerlinQuest Entertainment,
and our upcoming collaboration: the Great War of Magellan comic book
series, 3p2c has been given the newest cut of the GWoM trailer. This
version has only been shown at conventions this past summer, and has
not been posted online anywhere until now. Head on over to our Bottled
Lightning Section to check it out. NOTE: It’s high quality,
and 18MB in size, so dial-uppers need not apply. IF we get enough
requests, we will post a smaller, much more manageable (and much less
prettier) version for you slaves to the 56k, so drop us a line at
thelist@3p2c.com
and let us know!

- ROGUE REVIEW TEASER GOES LIVE! SEE WHATS IN STORE FOR YOU THIS WINTER!
It's
here! 3p2c's sci-fi arts and entertainment electronic journal is ready
to give you a sneak peek at our good stuff, an ogle at our unmentionables,
a stolen glance at our naughty bits! While Rogue Review officially
launches this coming Winter, we have chained our web guru (hi Ben!)
to his computer this month, force fed him stale rye bread, and ‘convinced’
him it would be a good idea to launch a preview of what's to come
for all you intellectual net surfers to enjoy!
Remember: Rogue Review is an electronic journal-formatted web publication
that takes an in-depth look at pop culture –namely Sci-fi, Fantasy,
Horror, Gaming, and Comics— from a roguish point of view.
So click on our ROGUE REVIEW section in the main menu, click on 'ROGUE
HOME' and/or 'REVIEW PREVIEWED' (where we have even stashed some special
articles for you) to get a gander at what I'm yammerin' about, and
also check back here in one week to see a preview of our new BOTTLED
LIGHTNING section!

- CON JOB: BLAM! COMICS FIRST CON APPEARANCE A HIT - FANS SIGN UP
TO BE ON THE GWoM COMIC MAILING LIST
Here at 3p2c/BLAM! we are recuperating from our overwhelmingly cool
time at DRAGON*CON this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. We were
too late signing up to have our own table at the con, but were able
to get on the guest list (Thanks Ed!) and set up shop with Richard
Hatch at his table, promoting the upcoming GWoM comic, talking to
fans, and speaking with Richard at his Great War of Magellan panel.
A limited edition print of our original
promotional image (which we used in our proposal to Richard to convince
him to have BLAM! produce the GWoM comic) was made available to fans,
and we will be offering any remainders on this website and at other
convention appearances in the near future (click
here to see it). All in all there seems to be a large buzz surrounding
the Great War of Magellan project, and people were excited to learn
about the upcoming comic and graphic novel series.
Rogue Review was able to snag some special interviews with Gil Gerard
(Buck Rogers in the 25th Century) and Marc Singer (V, Beastmaster)
for the January and April issues respectively, and our creative departments
weaseled a few deals to have well known and respected talent from
the comics and fantasy illustration industries create covers for various
upcoming 3p2c projects (more on those to be announced at a later date,
as well as a much more comprehensive account of our time at DRAGON*CON).
We asked fans to sign up on our emailing list at the con, and the
response so far has been overwhelming. We urge you to sign up as well
by clicking here.
Stay informed: know where we will be appearing, when we will be offering
special convention only premiums, and more!

- BLAM! COMICS CREATORS APPEARING AT DRAGON*CON NOW - GWOM PREVIEW
BOOK DELAYED
The entire BLAM! creative team is now appearing at
DRAGON*CON in Atlanta, GA through Sunday, Sept 5th. Join us as we
participate in Richard Hatch's Great War of Magellan panel at 2:30pm
on Saturday (9/4) and be among the first to hear what BLAM! has in
store for the future of the GWoM comic!
NOTE: In an effort to provide you with an expanded page count and
more in depth materials, The Great War of Magellan Preview Book, slated
to debut at DRAGON*CON this weekend, has been delayed until this Fall
in order to GET IT RIGHT! (The updates to 3p2c.com have been delayed
by this process as well.) The revamping of the preview book will offer
you slicker design, full character model sheets, an exclusive interview
with Richard Hatch, and more. We don't want to give you crap anymore
than you want to read it, so we know you'll understand...

- WWW.3P2C.COM OFFICIAL LAUNCH: v0.5
Welcome to your first look at the newly revised Pink Pig Purple Carpet
Collective website, version 0.5.
Version
0.5? you say. Yup, we say.
While
things are not quite ready to go at full blast yet, we are preparing
to give you more than just the taste we had up before (and get rid
of those silly under construction banners). So take a poke around,
check out what’s up, who’s on, and where things are at.
And
keep checking back, because in LATE SEPTEMBER
2004 the remaining sections of Version 0.5 open up, and in
the coming months updates will happen more frequently, especially
in light of this
news. Look for version 1.0 to go live Winter 2005.
7/22
- THE GREAT WAR OF MAGELLAN COMIC SERIES ANNOUNCED!
The Pink Pig Purple Carpet Collective is proud to announce a partnership
with actor, writer and producer Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica
fame to produce the comic book version of his upcoming television
series The Great War of Magellan. For the full story click here.

Magellan, go to www.greatwarofmagellan.com.

- KIRK NOT DEAD YET (HE GOT BETTER)
3p2c.com affiliate BringBackKirk.com is working hard to convince Paramount
to bring back everyone’s favorite shirtless starship captain.
This past spring, they created a new trailer exploring the possibilities
of Kirk’s return, and the response from the fan base has been
phenomenal. It looks like their campaign has reached Star Trek producer
Rick Berman himself, as negotiations are apparently taking place with
William Shatner to appear in ‘a familiar role’ in Season
4 of Star Trek: Enterprise. Click on the banner below to download
the zip
file of the Bring Back Kirk Trailer 2. For more on their campaign
to return to life the only cadet to ever beat the Kobyashi Maru, and
to learn how you can help, go to www.BringBackKirk.com

- ROGUE REVIEW NEEDS WRITERS!
Writers wanted for a new pop-culture/sci-fi webzine called Rogue Review.
We explore current and past trends in all popular media (Comics, Film,
Video Games, etc.), from the point of view of the Rogue. Must write
competently and with style, handling the small (under 250 words) to
the large (10,000+ words), and all in-between. It’s a non-paying
gig, but could lead to paying work in our affiliate studio. First
issue, themed “Definitive Rogues, Digital Reinvention and Disco
Science Fiction” goes live Winter 2005. Check out the Rogue
Review home page (under construction until August 2004) through our
main site menu, and check out our Submission
Guidelines to see how you can get involved.

- 3P2C.COM MEGA-SITE GOES LIVE SUMMER 2005
Version 0.5 of 3p2c.com is a work in progress, we are fine-tuning
our presentation for the release of our full Mega-site (we’re
set to go official with version 1.0 Summer 2005). We have had some
delays launching, but good things come to those who wait, so stop
complaining and enjoy v0.5 for now, dammit. That being said, we thought
we’d give you the rundown on what we’ll have to offer
in ‘05…
The Collective’s goal is to Inform, to Entertain
and to Serve; to that end our site will be divided into three
sections:
Rogue Review
Infotainment… centralized. Within these pages you will
find articles both timely and retrospective on all aspects of the
entertainment industry (along with a few notes on life in general)—from
video game articles on the Pong to GTA evolution;
to discussions on why George Lucas hates the big green bunny in early
Marvel Star Wars comics yet still thinks Jar Jar Binks is
a brilliant idea; and rounding it out with a series of rotating opinion
columns by two guys who’ve kept their mouths shut for far too
long—Rogue Review will inform and delight the reader with a
new point of view (that of the Rogue), in depth treatments of things
other sources only gloss over, and more essential, useless (but fun!)
information than anyone will ever need…
Bottled Lightning
Pop the top, and get ready for a jolt. Looking for new things
to delight those senses, tickle that fancy, and maybe, just maybe,
even expand that mind of yours exponentially? Then you’ve come
to the right place. Draw your chair near, bend a little closer to
the screen and get ready to take it all in as the creators of the
Collective show you what they’ve got. Let your jaw drop in amazement
at our online comics, be stunned into silence by the awesome RPG campaigns
presented to you, and stop up the bleeding in your ears as you listen
to a new brand of internet radio. You’ll get all the bells and
whistles you ever wanted here, and then some.
Pigs in a Carpet
Helping you build your product for a better tomorrow. Have
a job to do but can’t or don’t want to do the dirty work?
Let our team of highly trained creators do it for you! From conceptualization
to full blown execution, or anywhere in between, we’ll tackle
your job, big or small. Areas of expertise include writing, illustration,
cartooning, storyboarding, 3D design and animation, web design and
more. While our site’s not quite ready for the world yet, we
are, so drop us a line to let us know what you need, for more information
about what we can do for your business or to find out how you can
become a part of the studio.
